[26 Oct] Damn you, Straub.

New name, new look, new crises

[26 Oct] Damn you, Straub.

He's supposed to be dead! D.E.A.D.!

Damn you for this reset. I did not want to ever see Zillion again.

There is always the possibility that Mr Straub is toying with the longtime readers' expectations.

When I reached the last panel today, I lit up in a grin of delight that actually started hurting my cheeks after a few seconds. This from the mere possibility of getting more Zillion!

I absolutely hate Zillion. He's Starslip's Doctor Hot. (If you can parse those sentences, you must be a fan!)

I also love Doctor Hot, so I suppose I'm just the anti-Kris.

Does this mean Doctor Hot will be granted life anew in the 2020 Checkerboard Nightmare: CheX-Factor reboot? Joy of joys!

Although . . .

. . . I recall (possibly erroneously) Kris saying that their current universe diverged from the "Crisis" universe at the Ars Ad Astra storyline. That would mean that everything pre-AAA still happened in this universe, which included Vore and Zillion's . . . entanglement.

So if it is Zillion (which it could easily not be), he should have a pair of titanium-vanadium hands wrapped around his throat.

It is written that we will know the signs, but none will forsee his coming.

I know what you mean, but no, there's room for an even closer Doctor-Hot-equivalent in Starslip :D

What I liked about this comic was the phrase "I've just been working off context". So if your boss comes back after having been away for a day and finds you've actually made a complicated tower out of disposable cups, you say "You didn't give any exact instructions, so I was just working from context."

Straub, you magnificent bastard!

Of course, Zillion is gonna show up just when we least it expect it. Because you're evil like that.

The little snippet of preview text in the fanflow makes me wonder . . . did anticipation of Zillion cause him not to be?

On the plus side, at least the plot of whole storyarcs isn't accidentally revealed by filenames anymore.

I still alternately laugh and feel bad about the Oven Bun incident in the end days of Chex.

Well, at least Zillion is interesting. At least he's not bringing back some lame character like Infra Redbeard.
