The purpose of command codes is to restrict access to critical systems. Consequently, any critical system is presumed to have command access codes. These challenge and response protocols are geared to restrict casual access, while allowing only the originator or its informed representatives access to the capabilities that the systems enable.

With the general improvement of Information Warfare, it is my belief that codes will be less and less symbolic/iconic sequences and be more of a challenge of the individual itself. A sufficient-intelligence construct questioning the requester with general discussion and evaluating the responses, after passive biometric routines have run.
