Archive for July 2001 I hate working out some chords, then realizing it's essentially just some song I like, but didn't realize it. For further reference, the chorus to Laredo Tornado is Em-G-Am-Bm-[that chord close to Gm6... B5?] More guitar news -- I seem to have hit a metastable point in my learning. I can hit the chords, but not quite fast enough, and F is still a problem for me. I really have to slow it down, or I hit it and only catch the bottom two or three strings correctly. Plus, with how I've been learning, I'd be interested in seeing if any musicians play chords below the seventh fret, because my standard A, C, Em, Am et al are all way low on the neck. More to learn, I suppose. Damn, why isn't it instantaneous, like drawing and learning to drive were? Anyway, here are two more efforts for your listening... not pleasure. For your listening. This whole Chandra Levy thing is getting to me. I want closure, not because I'm sick of hearing about it, but because I feel caught up in it. The media machine has sucked me in. At least in the search -- I don't care about Condit. He shouldn't be the issue, but he is, and that's disgusting. Something else I dislike. I read a column in Time, and the writer's phrasing was "what about Condit? Is he a victim, or a monster?" Condit's playing this game too. He's a victim AND a monster, if that's a monster. He made a big mistake, but in the face of a much more noble cause (finding Levy), the media is tearing him apart -- not because he's a bastard, but because glittery tabloid news about bastards is worth money. Is everything so black and white? The media practically only informs the public of relevant issues by accident (but they are doing it), Condit is stupid for having an affair and lying, and Levy is stupid for having an affair with him. That's right, she carries some fault here too. But I doubt that's the reason she's vanished. The important thing should be to find her and find out who's responsible.
